David sold his successful Networking and Cabling company in the early 2000s. While managing cabling and networking infrastructures for his clients he had recognised how poorly most of them managed their documentation and configurations.

He founded Square Mile in September 2004 to address the growing need for better management processes in IT departments and their outsourcing partners. Square Mile combines many years practical experience of documenting IT infrastructures, with formal training by the IOD and others in corporate governance and management processes.

David enjoys his off time in a classic Cotswold village with his wife, four sons and two dogs!

Robert Cowham – Services Director

A well regarded industry professional, Robert joined the management team to help expand our service offerings, incorporating his background in software development and application lifecycle management. As chairman of the BCS CMSG for many years, Robert adds considerable depth to our configuration management service offerings, and is skilled in understanding and getting to grips with sometimes chaotic customer environments.

Alongside his family commitments, Robert has studied the Japanese martial art of Aikido for over 20 years and runs his own dojo.

Sarah Bradbury – UK Business Development

With extensive experience in sales of infrastructure monitoring, visualisation and management toolsets, Sarah assists with infrastructure configuration management solutions, consolidating customer’s disparate data sources and giving them an improved overall view of their complex infrastructures, both from a physical view and mapping it into the service and application layers.

In her spare time she is a keen photographer and her landscapes have a growing reputation and client base. Her interest in cooking lead her to appear on the last series of the BBC’s MasterChef programme.

Industry Groups

In addition to our commercial activities, Square Mile is represented in industry specialist groups. Currently our MD David Cuthbertson is a committee member of the BCS Configuration Management Specialist group (BCS-CMSG). Previously he was the founding chairman of the BCS Service Management Specialist Group (SMSG). Services Director Robert Cowham is the current Chair of the BCS-CMSG. In addition, Square Mile is often speaking on the issues of management controls and the practical documenting of infrastructure with the BCS, ITSMF, BICSI and others.

The challenge for many IT departments is how to cope with increased demands for better management when the people and technology have grown into the current environment. Trying to develop, or change processes without prior experience is prone to failure, especially when dealing with technical teams that exist because of their specialist knowledge. Square Mile helps to bridge the gap with education, implementation and if required ongoing operational support.

Since our formation, we have delivered projects, solutions and training to many of the worlds major financial institutions and infrastructure providers in the UK, US, Saudi Arabia, France, Belgium, UAE, the Carribbean and Israel.
