Free half day seminar Mapping Data Centre Infrastructure – 5 June 2013
In our free half day seminar we’ll be covering how to quickly map and maintain understanding of data centre and technical infrastructure. Our speakers cover a range of skills and approaches – with data centre mapping forming part of their work.
This seminar will focus on better ways of documenting critical data centre infrastructure and then maintaining the knowledge with change workflow processes. Our speakers will cover the following areas:
- Achieving a baseline inventory for project/programme planning
- Integrating DCIM monitoring systems with infrastructure documentation
- Automating Visio rack and network diagrams from inventory and connectivity databases
- Combining multiple datasets from discovery systems, CMDBs and spreadsheets
- Host to application mapping techniques for change and risk impact analysis
- Keeping the information current, using automation and change workflow
John Dente, Technical Director, PTS Consulting
PTS Consulting is a world wide consulting and project management company delivering data centre build, consolidation and transformation projects as well as managed services. John will cover how they use AssetGen to capture infrastructure understanding for large scale, multi-year projects involving 1000s of servers.
Philip Petersen, CEO, Adinfa
AdInfa develops the InSite DCIM software used to monitor critical infrastructure components as well as manage power within of data centres. Philip will cover how integration between InSite and AssetGen makes data centre fault finding, capacity management and data maintenance easier when infrastructure usage is changing constantly.
David Cuthbertson, Director, Square Mile Systems, AssetGen
One of the AssetGen founders, David will cover the new AssetGen Version 5 and show how inventory, connectivity, and CMDB dependency mapping are linked with Visio automation features. David will cover the Visio automation techniques used by AssetGen and show examples of implementation in new and existing legacy infrastructures.
Luke Edwards, Principal, Mendus
Luke is an independent consultant specialising in using auto-discovery tools and scripting to quickly get a baseline of an existing infrastructure. Often working with limited time, Luke typically deploys various toolsets to gather and collate data to help map infrastructure dependencies..
